Southern District - District One
Caryn G. Abbott was elected as a County Commissioner in 2022 and is currently serving her first term in office. Commissioner Abbott represents the County Commissioners as a voting member of the Tri-County Council (TCC) for the Lower Eastern Shore. She is the first woman to be elected to represent the Southern District.
Commissioner Abbott retired last year after a 36-year career as an emergency room nurse. She is also an entrepreneur and past business owner. Commissioner Abbott actively serves her community. She is the founder and president of Worcester Backs the Blue. She is also a member of the Pocomoke Chamber of Commerce and has been an American Red Cross volunteer RN for 20 years.
She grew up in Western Maryland and relocated to the Eastern Shore at age 18, after graduating from high school. Commissioner Abbott resides in Pocomoke, with her husband, John. They have four children, Jennifer, Kenneth, Caleb, and Haley, and three grandchildren.
