Convenience Station Permit

The Convenience Stations are for Worcester County homeowners and rental tenants only with proper permit. No commercial haulers allowed.

Convenience Station permits are $100.00 for the first two vehicles in the same household. Additional permits are $100.00 each.

Permits must be affixed to each vehicle and permit must match tag number. Permits are issued each year by January 1, and will expire December 31. There is no pro-rating of fees. Convenience Station permits allow the holder to dispose of household trash, yard waste (no stumps), and recyclables.

"Pay As You Throw" Prepaid Bag Tags

Worcester County offers this economically and environmentally friendly option for solid waste disposal based on the amount of trash thrown away. Pay As You Throw (PAYT) treats trash disposal just like electricity, gas, water, and other utilities. Households pay a variable rate depending on the amount of solid waste disposed of. This creates a direct economic incentive to recycle more and to generate less waste.  According to the EPA, almost 30% of all municipal solid waste generated in the U.S. is food and yard waste.  Consider composting. These programs are simple and fair. The less individuals throw away, the less they pay.

The EPA endorses this approach to solid waste management, as it has proven to be the single most effective way to reduce residential solid waste, increase recycling, and decrease waste-related greenhouse gas emissions.  PAYT is a good way for communities to manage their waste disposal costs; and residents can control their trash bills.  The most important advantage of PAYT is the fairness.
The above information is from the EPA’s Web site. https://www.epa.gov/
