Ocean Pines District - District Five

Anthony W. “Chip” Bertino, Jr.,  was elected as a County Commissioner in 2014 and is currently serving his fourth term in office. Commissioner Bertino served as president of the County Commissioners from 2022 through 2024. 
On December 12, 2024, during the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) winter conference in Cambridge, Governor Wes Moore installed Commissioner Bertino to the 2025 MACo Board of Directors, where he advocates for Worcester County and MACo members with government officials and leaders throughout the state. 

 

“The opportunity to serve at this level is a tremendous honor,” Bertino said. “It’s humbling to have earned the confidence of my colleagues across the state to fill this position. I look forward to representing and advocating for Worcester County and MACo members with government officials and leaders throughout the state.”


In addition to the Board of Directors, Bertino has been serving since 2019 on the MACo Legislative Committee, which meets weekly during each Maryland General Assembly session to determine which legislative positions to take. He also represents the County Commissioners on the Wor-Wic Community College Board of Trustees.
Commissioner Bertino has been in the newspaper publishing business for more than 30 years. He is a member and past president of the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce, past board member of the Worcester County Veterans Memorial at Ocean Pines and is co-author of the book “My Time, My Service” about the men and women honored at the memorial. Commissioner Bertino and his wife, Susan, live in Ocean Pines. They have three children and four grandchildren.
