Homeless Woman Burned in West Ocean City

“The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office has investigated a fire in which a 46 year old homeless woman was burned earlier this morning (Saturday, February 20, 2021).  The woman who had returned to her make-shift shelter off Elm Street in West Ocean City, Maryland was filling her kerosene heater when a fire occurred.  She received burns to her hands and feet while she was trying to extinguish the fire.  The subject suffered burns to her feet and hands.  She was transported to Tidal Health in Salisbury by Ocean City EMS.  The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company extinguished the fire.  The cause of the fire is contributed to the use of gasoline in a portable kerosene heater.”
