March 23, 2024 - Residential Structure Fire

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Nottingham Lane for a reported residential structure fire. Upon the arrival of the first fire units, smoke was observed extending from the dwelling. The occupant advised everyone had the exited the dwelling except for some family pets. The fire was quickly contained to the kitchen area. Ocean Pines FD was assisted by the Showell, Berlin, Bishopville, and Selbyville Volunteer Fire Companies.

March 22, 2024 - Natural Cover Fire

On Friday, March 22, 2024, the Bishopville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported outside fire on the 12000 block of Collins Road. First arriving fire units reported a large area of grass and brush involved in fire.  The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. Deputies from the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded and determined the fire was caused by the home owner burning debris which extended to the surrounding brush and grass. No structures were involved or damaged. The fire service remained on the scene for approximately one hour.

For this Saturday the National Weather Service is forecasting 1.5 - 4 inches of rain. Expect minor flooding due to elevated tides and strong winds during high tides on both Saturday and Sunday. Flood potential and inundation may increase. Be aware of changing road conditions. It is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters. Turn around, don’t drown!
