Sewer System Smoke Testing Takes Place June 13-16 from Maid at Arms Lane to Man O War Lane in Glen Riddle.

                                                                                                    

Worcester County Public Works Water and Wastewater (WWW) Division will conduct smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system from June 13-16, 2023 between Maid at Arms Lane and Man O War Lane.

Operation Rebuild info sessions June 1 and 5 from 5-7 p.m.

If you own and reside in a single-family home in Worcester County and need assistance to improve your property, stop by the Operation Rebuild info session on June 1 at the Pocomoke Branch Library or June 5 at the Berlin Branch Library. Meet Housing Rehabilitation Program Coordinator Davida Washington, and learn how Operation Rebuild may be able to assist property owners obtain grants and/or  low interest loans-rates  based on income to rebuild homes beyond repair.

Isle of Wight Park Closed June 9-11, 2023

The Isle of Wight Park, located at 13090 St. Martin’s Neck Road in Bishopville, will be closed to the public for a special event from June 9-11, 2023. The park will reopen to the public during standard hours of operation beginning June 12.

***TRAFFIC ALERT*** STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO RESURFACE MD 611 (STEPHEN DECATUR HIGHWAY) IN WORCESTER COUNTY Motorists Can Expect Daytime Single-Lane Closures Beginning Monday, May 22

(May 18, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a paving project Monday, May 22, on MD 611 (Stephen Decatur Highway) between the Verrazano Bridge over the Sinepuxent Bay and MD 376 (Assateague Road) in Worcester County. The project should be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.

Worcester County Offices Closed Monday, May 29

Worcester County Government (WCG) offices, including all five Branch Libraries and Recreation and Parks, will be closed Monday, May 29, 2023, for the Memorial Day holiday. The Central Landfill and Homeowner Convenience Centers will also be closed.

WCG offices will resume standard operating hours on Tuesday, May 30. WCG staff wish one and all a happy and safe holiday weekend.

 

Worcester County Issues Outdoor Burning Ban

Snow Hill, Maryland – Effective Monday, April 24, 2023, ALL outdoor burning will be banned for an indefinite period of time in Worcester County.  Worcester County Fire Marshal Matthew Owens issued the burn ban. 

“Due to the county’s current dry conditions, the burn ban is effective starting April 24,” Fire Marshal Owens said. “This ban should reduce the number of out-of-control, outside fires, which cause safety concerns for area residents, visitors, and especially responding fire personnel.”
